Follow up on Called Candidates
Meaning -
Follow up means a proper co-ordination and update on the candidate after our first discussion with him.
Need -
- Follow up of candidates are done on every stage of recruitment.
- When a candidate is pitched and is interested for the job we follow up with him continuously for the further procedure. (Interview - Offer - Joining.)
- When a candidate is pitched but not confirmed about his interest, we still follow up to know his interest for the specific job.
Usage -
- CALLING - Be in contact with the candidate on calls.
- SMS - The alternative mode of contact with the candidate is follow up through sms.
- EMAIL - An email must be sent showing the need and an urgency to talk for the respective job.
Reference Check
Meaning -
A reference check is done by an employer prior to hiring an employee.
Need -
- It helps to know more information of the candidate through others.
- It helps to get an understanding of his fitment to the job.
- In professional terms, Reference check is done with colleagues and reporting manager. Hence it helps to know the work ethics, work knowledge, individual behaviour towards organization and subordinates etc.

Salary Negotiation
Meaning -
Salary Negotiations are done when the candidate and the client’s expectations vary. It is always between the Client and the Candidate.
Usage -
- A consultant should never be involved in any salary negotiations.
- On certain instances a Team Manager may get involved into the discussion; however, it is always the Client way.
- The consultant should be prepared for both results - “take it or leave it” i.e. the Client cannot change the offer made OR “Revised” i.e. the Client revises the offer.
